The following video "Baby Gorilla Nayembi Thriving" shows what a newly born Gorilla foetus looks like and how it examines its environment.
How will the baby gorilla get its food?
An unborn baby receives its nourishment directly from what its mother consumers during the period of her pregnancy. The foetus in the mothers uterus receives vital protein and vitamins through the umbilical cord which is attached to the placenta. Oxygen and carbon dioxide are also passed in and out through the umbilical cord to provide oxygen and fight antibodies. |
The umbilical cord which is clearly labelled is the connection between a foetus and a mother. Rather than grow in eggs where a foetus has all the nutrients it needs. Intelligent animals grow in wombs and relieve nutrients from their mothers throughout the term of their pregnancy though the umbilical cord to keep the baby healthy.

How is the unborn baby protected?
Gorilla’s and humans are very closely related, us two species share very similar DNA and body structures. Gorilla’s, therefore, have a very similar foetus development to humans. The foetus is in its mothers womb surrounded by amniotic fluid in an amniotic sac. The fluid helps to support the baby whilst also permitting musculoskeletal development. The liquid also assures the perfect temperature to assure the foetus develops in an ideal environment. Amniotic liquid also aids in developing the lungs of the foetus. The foetus breaths in the liquid and then exhales it, by doing so the baby develops the ability to breathe which is necessary quickly after birth.
This is an image of a human foetus during development in the womb. A gorilla foetus would look very similar to this. The foetus is developing in the amniotic sac surrounded by amniotic fluid which is clearly seen to the left.
What should you feed kimya?
Foetus development in humans is very similar in gorillas. Gorillas diet normally consists of leaves, buds, bark and fruit which is already vital food during pregnancy. Kimya will however consume more food as she provides some of what she eats to her foetus. Kimya should definitely drink ample amounts of water to cool and hydrate her system.
The image above shows gorillas consuming bark.
Why should nKimya be kept away from the public?
Humans pose a large threat to a pregnant gorilla. Humans can be a target for a pregnant gorilla as they may be viewed as a threat. Gorillas are very concerned for the wellbeing of their child and any threat will be removed. At the beginning of cell division many hormones are released to get the body ready for pregnancy which causes stress and frustration. Humans can also cause the gorillas to stress as the mother gorilla is on a routine and continuously being watched by people.
